The shows / gymkanas for the 2016 season will be held at the Strathmore Rodeo Grounds in the south arena. Entry to the grounds will be off Wheatland Trail - turn at the sign that says "Strathmore Civic Centre", follow the road east past the quonset to the arena area.

Fun Country Riders have joined the Alberta Equestrian Federation (AEF)

Because of the ever increasing insurance costs, it was voted on that every member who shows or gymkanas MUST be a member of the AEF in order to compete. If you would like more information go to http://www.albertaequestrian.com/

For insurance reasons, in order to compete in shows and gymkanas, you will now need to prove that you are a current member of the AEF. Please bring your membership card to a meeting or before the first show/gymkana you are attending for verification, or you will not be able to compete.

Entries for the shows will be from 8:30 to 9:15

Show will start at 9:30

See the bottom of the page for qualifications for year end awards

HERITAGE DAYS PARADE

August 1st

Katrina is our parade coordinator again this year. If you are planning to attend please can you contact Katrina at 403-901-4057 so we have a rough estimate of numbers.

The horse staging area is on the east side of Kinsmen Lake ( take Ridge Road to get to the staging area) it is the grassy area behind the car wash, please be there by 6:30 a.m.

For the parade, black jeans, white shirts or blouses, cowboy hats (or helmets are fine); We have the new red and white saddle blanket covers to go over your own saddle blanket, the lanyards (the red ropes which go around your horses’ necks) and the scarves. Red or white vet wrap for the horses legs.

At least two people should carry our pennants to identify the Club.

We have had a couple of riders in the past who used English tack and clothing, and there is no problem if you prefer to do that.

There are also MOST IMPROVED YOUTH AND SENIOR categories, but these are chosen by the Club Executive, Show Co-ordinators and Gymkana Co-ordinators, and winners are based on the most overall improvement shown throughout the year.

Qualifications For Year End Awards

Please note the qualification criteria for year-end awards were amended at the 28 Feb 2008 meeting. In the interest of treating all members in a fair and consistent manner, NO EXCEPTIONS will be made. The qualification criteria will be posted at every show.

Please refer to Page 8 in the Fun Country Riders Members Handbook:

Compete in a minimum of three Shows or Gymkhanas; and

Either the person or a **responsible adult MUST attend a minimum of half of the Club monthly meetings from the time of joining; and the person must help in some manner in at least one of the Club events through the season. If attendance at the mettings is impossible, the person must help at a minimum of two (2) Club events.

**Responsible Adult: Person responsible for a minor at all the FCR events.

CASINO

At a meeting it was decided by members present that there should be repercussions for those who did not honour their commitments to the Club and the Casino.  To prevent taking the chance of losing our Casino licences in future by ensuring that volunteers understand how important it is to follow through with their commitments, it was  moved that if confirmed volunteers for a Casino do not fulfil their Club commitments, they will not qualify for any year-end awards or be allowed to participate in any clinics the Club may hold for the Casino term, seconded and passed by the Meeting.
